I’m on a Boat: Sailing the Spanish Seas

I’m on a Boat: Sailing the Spanish Seas

I’ve never been one much for bodies of water whether it be brooks, streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, seas, or oceans. I’d like to think it has to do with not spending much time around any of those things growing up, but perhaps it has more to do with the lack of control and the unknown that lies beneath. I almost drowned floating a river in my 20s, so to say I have trepidation when it comes to water deeper than my bathtub is an understatement.

Past Toronto’s CN Tower: The Largest Structures in the World

Past Toronto’s CN Tower: The Largest Structures in the World

In a couple of weeks I’m headed to Canada for the first time, specifically Toronto. Shamefully, the three things I know about Toronto are the following: Blue Jays, Raptors, and the CN Tower. Shame on me, right? How could I be so neglectful to my neighbor to the north? During my four nights in Toronto, going to the top of the CN Tower is one of my priorities. Although I’m afraid of heights, I love a great skyscraper as well as seeing a city from above. In this guest post by Simon Zedd, the five tallest buildings in the world are profiled. Sadly for the USA, inventor of the skyscraper, this list is dominated by Asia and the Middle East.

48 Hours in Paris

48 Hours in Paris

There aren’t many things that bring me as much joy and heartache as the thought of 48 hours in Paris. On one hand, I have 48 hours in Paris! And on the other, I only have 48 hours in Paris? When faced with the fantastic dilemma of filling two nights in the City of Light, what would you do?

Three Annoying Travel Costs I always Forget

Three Annoying Travel Costs I always Forget

Even the best accountant can miss costs. I’m not claiming to be one of those, but I can usually guesstimate how much I’m going to spend on a trip. I’m not talking about stuff like Starbucks at the airport, even though those little things add up. Instead, I’m referring to the stuff that I flat over look no matter how much I travel. It absolutely chaps my hide every time. You’d think I’d learn by now.

10 Dishes I Adore

10 Dishes I Adore

I love Fridays for a number of reasons, but this Friday is extra special. Why? It’s because I’m co-hosting my first ever #FriFotos on Twitter. What’s that you ask? Well, it’s an internationally trending, 24-hour chat where people all over the world share their photos that best represent the week’s topic. It’s tons of fun and anyone with a Twitter {or Instagram} account can participate by simply following the #FriFotos hashtag and including it in your Tweets. What’s even better is that I got to help choose the topic. So what do you think I picked?

Small-Town Nirvana is Found in @Telluride

Small-Town Nirvana is Found in @Telluride

It’s difficult for me to fathom, but I’ve resided in a city of over four million as long as I lived in a town of 1,000. Although I’ve lived in cities my entire adult life, I still associate myself with a small town; it shaped who I am. Houston isn’t home. It’s simply where my stuff is. No matter how many miles I fly or five-star hotels I sleep in, at heart, I’m still that eight-year-old girl that learned to drive on West Texas dirt roads. Yet, for some reason she’s gotten pushed aside–that is until a recent trip to Telluride.

What’s so Great about Europe anyway?

What’s so Great about Europe anyway?

I’ve recently toyed with the idea of moving outside of the USA, and I’ve had brief tastes of what it would be like. I’ve spent a month in China, Singapore, and most recently, Europe. However, one month does not an expat make. In each of those locales, I made it a point to immerse myself as a local, especially in Europe. Staying in Go with Oh apartments and hanging out with locals certainly helped in that regard.
