You probably know that I’m starting my Go with Oh guest-blogging stint in November and that I’m going to Florence and Paris. Today, as promised, I’m disclosing another city on my European tour.

I’m going to Go with Oh to Prague!

I’ll be really honest. Prague is a bit of a mystery to me, but that’s part of the reason why I picked it. I do know about the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, the Astronomical Clock, Wenceslas Square, and the many different types of architecture throughout the city. Oh, and I am well aware of their famous beer, too! But that’s just about where my knowledge of Prague ends.

There are plenty of people of Czech decent in Texas, so I’m pretty well-versed in terms of their food. Although it’s not diet-friendly, I can’t argue with a culture whose meals consist primarily of pork and beef with a side of dumplings. The rich and hearty food washed down with some Becherovka, should help keep me warm during the Czech Republic winter.

Prague is the first stop on my Go with Oh tour, and I have just about five months to learn about the city. I normally research, plan, and study until I know my destination backward and forward. But what if I don’t this time? What if I just get off the plane with no plans and no expectations?

What’s the worst that could happen? Maybe, along with my travel partner in crime, Lola, I just explore and get lost in the city. Perhaps I’ll discover a bounty of things not in the guide books. That would be a true traveler’s dream.

Who am I kidding? I’m too much of a control freak for that! I currently have three Prague guide books in my Amazon shopping cart. One thing that I won’t have to worry about is where I’m going to stay. I know that Lola and I will have the perfect Open House Group apartment and tons of travel suggestions from y’all.

I did not realize that y'all met in Prague! I was thinking it was work-related, but didn't know where. That's so cool. You must go back then. My husband and I met in Costa Rica and only I've been back. It's something I'd like for us to do one day.

Oh, I know Sonja Blum Jones. I thought long and hard about choosing it for that very reason. The weather is one of the reasons I made it my first stop. It will still be cold in the beginning of November, but not like it would be at the beginning of December. I just bought some very warm boots yesterday that should help me make it through.

One of Bud's favorite places, and he visited several times, including winter time. You should love! You are like Bud, his research on the cities he visited was very intense. He didn't miss a thing!

Sandy Moore, I'm not surprised that Bud loved Prague. He was always on the cutting edge of new places to visit. Plus, he's the only person I know crazy enough to visit Moscow and Kiev in the dead of winter. I loved that about him. ;-)

Thank you, Karina. I loved seeing all of Sherry's beautiful pictures of Berlin. It looks like y'all showed her a really great time. My four cities will be Prague, Florence, Barcelona, and Paris, in that order. I haven't decided exactly how many days I'll spend in each city, but the majority of the time will be in Florence and Paris. I do want to see Berlin, but it will just have to wait for another time.

I have just stumbled upon your blog and it is great. Your plans sound exciting. You won't be disappointed by Florence. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Thank you. Of course there are the typical sights, such as the Duomo or the Uffizi gallery, however I personally didn't get that much pleasure out of these. It was far too touristy and the crowds and high entrance prices made me really angry. :-) I much more preferred wandering through the narrow little alleys, finding small Italian restaurants or local markets. I also loved walking up to the highest point of Florence past some lovely buildings, castles, churches and monasteries. The view over Florence was amazing. You are also in one of the best wine regions in the world-so why not visiting a winery in the Tuscan countryside? TammyOnTheMove recently posted..Happy birthday King Norodom Sihamoni

Now, you're my kind of traveler. I love wandering, too. I'm hoping that those typically crowded sites won't be as crowded in November. I visited Rome around Christmas two years ago, and it was so pleasant. I didn't wait in a single line and it snowed! We will take several day trips out of the city, and I know there will be at least one winery thrown in there. Please let me know if anything else comes to mind.
