If the Cheltenham Festival isn’t already on your bucket list, it should be. Whether you are a serious punter or consumed by wanderlust, this unique sporting spectacle will provide you with everything you are after. Being part of the 40,000 racegoers that attend the festival over the 4 days every year will be an experience that will forever remain entrenched within.

The running of the Gold Cup is one of the most electrifying sporting events anywhere in the world. It is impossible not to be swept up in the celebratory and festive atmosphere. The adrenaline certainly pumps when the sound of the hooves comes thundering past you. It’s always worthwhile to have a bit of information on the horses should you fancy a flutter during this unforgettable experience and Oddschecker provides the latest on big names like Thistlecrack as the nine-year-old thoroughbred prepares for the Cheltenham Festival. The action on the track is exhilarating but, off it, any traveler can find much-needed peace and quiet very nearby.

Cheltenham is nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds, which has been demarcated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The surrounding landscapes are breathtaking and inspiring. It is no wonder so many English novels have been set in this stunning part of the world. The rolling green hills and beautiful meadows will breathe life into any visitor that makes the trip down.

There is something for everyone and, if a healthy dose of history and culture is something you thrive on, then a trip to many of the stately homes on offer will have you back in the 16th century. The gardens of the Prince of Wales’s Highgrove Estate are open to the public and can be visited between April and October, and so is the magnificent Corsham Court.

The money brought in by this festival to the town of Cheltenham is thought to be in the region of £50 million. It is no wonder that this sensational showpiece attracts the volume of people that it does as it caters for every personal taste imaginable.

Making your way to Cheltenham for this festival will having you remember why you fell in love with traveling. It has it all, from culture and sophistication to the thrill of witnessing history being made at one of the premier global horse racing events.
